Water Your Piano

Add water when the yellow light blinks, this is your low water light. Watch the video below for step by step instructions.

Wondering what kind of water to use? Distilled water is always preferred. In most situations, you can use tap, distilled, or filtered water. Locations with high mineral content water will reduce the life of the pads and humidifier heater bar, and in these situations we recommend using distilled water if possible. Do not use water that has been softened using salt. Salt water will react with aluminum, shortening the life of your Piano Life Saver.

Make Sure the System Stays Plugged In

Make sure your system is plugged into an outlet that is not controlled by a light switch.

The Piano Life Saver requires a constant supply of power to do its job correctly.

Understand the Lights

Green light is on: This is good, power is on and the system is functioning properly.

Yellow light is blinking: This is your water light, and blinking indicates it’s time to water your piano. Please reference the video above for a handy how-to.

Red light is blinking: This is your pads light, and blinking indicates it’s time for them to be replaced. We recommend reaching out to your piano technician to have this done, generally twice a year.

Both red and yellow lights are blinking: This is generally an indication that the system completely ran out of water. Add water, wait 10 minutes, and if both lights have gone off, you’re all done. If the red light is still blinking your pads also need to be replaced, and we recommend your technician help with this.

No Lights: Check plugs and cords to ensure your system has power. Make sure the system isn’t plugged into an outlet operated by a lightswitch. If everything is plugged in properly and you’re still not seeing any lights, reach out to your piano technician for troubleshooting assistance.

Your piano will continue to benefit from regular tunings, and any necessary Piano Life Saver maintenance can be done by your technician at this time. The Piano Life Saver works to consistently maintain a great sounding piano between tunings and maintain a consistent humidity level for your piano.
